MARLBORO - Laura M. (Daniels) Brazeau, 106, formerly of Broad Street, the city's oldest resident, died Monday at the Granger Nursing Home, Northboro. She leaves 320 survivors.
Her husband, Joseph Brazeau, died in 1960.
She leaves six sons, Walter Brazeau of Hudson, Arthur Brazeau of Holliston, Victor Brazeau, of Sutherlin, Oregon; Paul Brazeau of Sarasota, Fla.; John Brazeau of Conventry, Conn. and William Brazeau of Marlboro; four daughters, Angeline Maury of Jacksonville, Fla., Lydia Whitcomb of Marlboro, Rita Young of Saratoga, Fla. and Lura Thompson of Hudson, 69 grandchildren, 150 great-grandchildren and 91 great-great-grandchildren. She was also the mother of Harry Brazeau of Bolton, who died in 1991; Earl Brazeau of Florida; Francis Brazeau, who was killed during World War II; Odile Castonguay of Marlboro and Mae Counter of Torrington, Conn., who died in 1996. She was born in New Boston, N.H., daughter of Joseph and Angeline (Basha) Daniels, and lived in Marlboro most of her life.
She was employed many years by the former Diamond Shoe Co. The oldest living Marlboro resident, she would have celebrated her 107th birthday Nov. 30. In 1983, she was honored as Senior Citizen of the year. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, an honorary member of Our Lady of the Assumption Guild, an active member of the Gold Star Mothers and a life member of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor.
The funeral will be held Friday from the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Broad Street. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow . Flowers may be sent or donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary's Church, Broad Street, Marlboro 01752.
