Reginald Horace Victor "Reg" Crump, 3rd eldest son of seven children of John Crump and Elizabeth Smith was born on June 6, 1897 in Brampton Abbotts, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England.
Two days after Reg's 6th birthday, he and his six siblings were orphaned when their parents (Elizabeth died May 1, 1903 / John died June 8, 1903). Reg was admitted into Dr. Barnardo's Home, together with his older brother Charles and younger brother Alfred James Sidney (Sid).
Reg and Sid emigrated on February 21, 1907 from Liverpool, England to Toronto, Ontario, Canada via Portland, Maine, aboard the Dominion ship arriving March 5, 1907 with some 349 other Barnardo's children. They eventually were reunited with their older brother, Charles, who was sent to Canada on March 24, 1904, 10 months after his parents died. Charles was emigrated with 194 other Dr. Barnardo's children from Liverpool, England to Toronto, Ontario, Canada via Portland, Maine, aboard the SS Southwark. His name was incorrectly listed as Clarence Frederick Crump. He arrived on April 5, 1904.
Under the Canadian Military Service Act of 1917, on May 14, 1917, Reginald Horace Crump, aged 20 years 11 months, was drafted at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Private Reginald Horace Crump served in Regimental #260755.
Reg homesteaded in the Kerrobert, Saskatchewan area after he returned from serving overseas.
