Charles Frederick Crump, 2nd Eldest son of seven children of John Crump and Elizabeth Smith was born on May 31, 1892 in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, England.


When Charles was 10 years old, he and his six siblings were orphaned when their parents died eithin a month of each other (Elizabeth died May 1, 1903 / John died June 8, 1903).


Charles was admitted into Dr. Barnardo's Home, together with his brothers: Reginald and Alfred James Sidney (Sid).


On March 24 1904, 10 months after his parents died, Charles was emigrated with 194 other Dr. Barnardo's children from Liverpool, England to Toronto, Ontario, Canada via Portland, Maine, aboard the SS Southwark. It is noted that his name was incorrectly listed as Clarence Frederick Crump. HOWEVER, the passenger list states Chas. Fredk Crump. He arrived on April 5, 1904. His two younger brothers: Reginald and Sid emigrated on February 21, 1907 from Liverpool, England to Toronto, Ontario, Canada via Portland, Maine, aboard the Dominion ship arriving March 5, 1907 and believed that they were reunited in Saskatchewan years after they had been separated.


Charles enlisted on October 1, 1916 in Petawawa, Ontario in the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force. Private Charles Frederick Crump served in Regimental #345874; Rank GNR (Gunner).


Charles homesteaded in the Kerrobert, Saskatchewan area after he returned from serving overseas.
