Catherine "Kitty" Josephine Wakefield, 79, of Westberg Road died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, in the Benedictine Health Center.

Catherine was born in Duluth on April 4, 1922, to Peter and Lillian (Westen) Paro and lived her entire life in Duluth. She was formerly employed in the bindery department at Davidson Printing Co., and she also ran Wakefield's Bait Shop for many years. Catherine loved to knit and crochet, but most of all she was a mother and grandmother.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gnesen.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 1995; sons Henry, William, and Edward; a grandson, James; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Wakefield; and son-in-law, Gary Hann.

She is survived by daughter Cheryl (Kenny) Hann of Duluth; sons Harold (Bonnie), Donald "Mike", both of Duluth, and Robert (Mary) of Hermantown; grandchildren Ed (Nikki), Steve, Mari (Wayne), Lisa (Dan), Hank (Lori), John, Dan, Katie, Nichole (Dean), Kelly (Mark), Bobbie (Joe), Terra (Tim), Scott, Melissa; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Sunday in Dougherty Funeral Home with wake prayers at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gnesen. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
