Mrs. Asa Lawrence received word Saturday of the death of her oldest brother, Alfred S. Bean of Chillicothe, 83, in Proctor hospital in Peoria Saturday morning following a long illness.
The Bean family is well known in this community as the father and several of his children were teachers in the Princeville and Chillicothe community schools.
Mr. Bean was born near Mt. Sterling November 30, 1868, a son of Levi and Mary Call Bean.
Surviving are his wife, the former Maud Edney; one brother, Hiram Bean of Miles City, Mont.; four sisters, Mrs. Asa Lawrence of Princeville, Miss Florence Bean of Chillicothe, Mrs. Ruby Kreift of Arcadia, Calif., and Mrs. Henry Kettle of Blockton, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Tuesday with Rev. K. V. McConkey of Chillicothe Methodist church officiating. He was laid to rest in the city cemetery.
Among those attending the services from here were Mr. and Mrs. Asa Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Slane, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Lawrence and Luther Lawrence. Others attending from a distance wee Mr. and Mrs., Ward Lawrence and Mrs. Harold Swindell of Evanston, Hiram Beam of Miles City, Mont., Mrs. Lois Steele of Chicago and Mrs. Myrtle Kettle and family of Blockton, Iowa.
