Mrs. Lawrence passed away in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Swindell, in Skokie Friday morning, November 27, 1964. She had lived with her daughter since February, 1961.
She was born in May, 1871, near Sterling, a daughter of Levi C. and Mary E. Bean. Following her graduation from Chillicothe High School, she taught in the Chillicothe-Princeville area schools for six years.
She was united in marriage to Asa F. Lawrence December 30, 1897. They farmed in the Princeville community for 34 years before retiring and moving to Princeville, where they resided on Santa Fe Avenue until Mr. Lawrence's death in February, 1960.
She resided with her daughter, May, in Peoria before going to Skokie to make her home with her daughter Ruth.
She was a member of the Princeville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Swindell of Skokie, two sons, Clifford Lawrence of Princeville and Ward Lawrence of Evanston; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lois Lawrence of Peoria; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Kettle of Blockton, Iowa, Miss Florence Bean of Pontiac and Mrs. Ruby Kieft of Monrovia, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son, Harold Lawrence and a daughter and son-in-law, May and James Wilson, one sister and four brothers.
