Frank E. Staples, 86, died Aug. 26, 2005 at Wesley Rehabilitation Center, Wichita.
...He was born Arpil 16, 1919, at Pratt, the son of John Wesley and Edith Mable Sandburg Staples. He was a resident of Pratt most of his life.
...He belonged to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Laborer's International Union of North American Local Union No.652, Orange County, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 3rd Infantry at North Africa and Europe, receiving the Silver Star.
...On Sept. 5, 1975, he married Winifred "Winnie" Ellen Barnes. She survives.
...Other survivors include: two stepsons, Dennis and William Barker; a stepdaughter; Kathelia Barker, Goddard; a brother Henry, Hugoton; seven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
...He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Jerrold, Jack and Dorsey Staples; and a sister; Helen Willmet.
...Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Cem., with the Rev. Floyd Hopkins and Chaplain Kathelia Barker presiding.
...Memorials may be sent to the World War II Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
