Obituary - Dorothy Harris Adams died July 18, 2006. She was born October 15, 1912 to Jesse and Chloe Layton Harris in Layton, Utah.
Dorothy lived her entire life in Layton attending Layton Elementary and graduating from Davis High School. She attended Utah Agricultural College and earned her "State Normal" and began teaching school. She got a bachelor's in 1950 from Utah State Ag. College.
Dorothy married John V. Adams December 15, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married 52 years until John's death in 1988.
Dorothy lived a life of service to her family, church and community. Church callings were stake YWMIA president, Junior Sunday School coordinator, ward Relief Society president, stake Cultural Refinement leader, and many other callings. She served a mission in the Dallas Fort Worth Mission.
She taught school for 43 years, served on State Womens' Legislative Council - DEA representative and was a member of DUP.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Bryan L. Harris, sisters Ruth Adams and Annabelle Wall, one grandson, Judd A. Bundy and sons-in-law Jim A. Bundy and Tom A. Hayes.
She is survived by three sisters: Gloria Hess Rice, Bonnie (Art) Jackson, Connie Layton, and sister-in-law, Elaine Adams Harris, Children: Mike (Shelly) Adams, Mary Ann Bundy, Nancy Hayes, Jan (Ned) Nelson, and Julie (Aharon) Shulimson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. Friends and family may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
