Bonnie Jean Harris Jackson was born Jan. 23, 1926, in Layton, Utah, the daughter of Thomas Jesse and Chloe Layton Harris. She passed away Dec. 12, 2006, at her home in North Logan, surounded by those who loved her most -- her family.
Bonnie was raised in Layton where she was taught many values which were important to her throughout her life. She was always happy and learned to work hard, and had a great love for her family.
She attended public schools in Davis County, and graduated from Davis High School in 1944, where she served as the student body vice president. She attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan where she was affiliated with the Chi Omega Sorority.
It was in Logan where she met her beloved husband, Arthur D. Jackson. He fell in love with her beautiful smile and cheerful countenance. They were married August 1, 1946, in the Logan LDS Temple, and celebrated 60 years of marriage this past fall.
They lived for a brief period in North Ogden and Logan, and for nine years in Tooele before settling in North Logan where she resided until her death.
She worked briefly outside the home to help support her two sons on missions, but her greatest love and work were in the home caring for her family. Bonnie took great pride in making sure everyone in her family looked nice, especially her husband who always went to work in a clean, pressed shirt. She was a devoted companion, and was always at his side. She was a loving, selfless mother and friend to her four children and their spouses, and found great joy in being a grandmother. She was an example of hard work and integrity, a master homemaker and cook, and always kept her home and yard immaculate.
Bonnie had a great love and talent for music. She was blessed with a beautiful voice, and sang at hundreds of funerals and church services. She also had a great talent for playing the piano. Music was always heard in her home.
She was genuine in reaching out and caring for others. She made all those she came in contact with feel loved and appreciated. She was humble and sincerely appreciative of every act of kindness shown to her.
Bonnie was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and shared her love and testimony of the gospel in word and deed by serving in many organizations of the church. Together with her husband, she served LDS missions in the California, San Jose Mission, and in Hawaii, and continued to keep in contact with the dear friends they made while on their missions.
She is survived by her husband; son, Clyde (Judy) Jackson, Farmington; daughters Sue (John) Kellett, North Ogden and Karen (Mike) Liechty, Providence; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Rice and Connie Layton; sisters-in-law Elaine Harris, Maurine (Ray) Stowers and Shirley McCormick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale Jackson; brother, Bryan Harris; and sisters Ruth Adams, Dorothy Adams and Annabelle Wall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, at the North Logan 10th Ward, 1550 East 1900 North. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Allen – Cranney Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan and on Monday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery.
