Daughter of Thomas Jesse Harris and Chloe Louise Layton

Wife of Robert Franklin Wall, 18 November 1936, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Obituary - Annabelle Harris Wall died in her sleep early in the morning December 26, 2004. She suffered from painful arthritis for many years.

The family wishes to thank the many kind "guardian angels" who helped her during her long and difficult illness. With their assistance she was able to remain in her home through her last years.

Annabelle was the third daughter of Jesse Harris and Chloe Louise Layton Harris, born August 17, 1916. She grew up on her parents' farm located on Antelope Drive and Hill Field Road. She helped her father grow hay and grain on the family farm located where Hill Field Airbase is now located.

She was a "Davis Dart" in high school, where she dated and later married the student body president, Robert Wall. They were married November 18, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple. She attended Utah State University for a year before they were married, when she dropped out of school to work in a sewing factory to help her new husband graduate. She taught all of her children to sew.

Throughout her life she gave her husband her full support in his church and career assignments. She sustained her husband during his callings in bishoprics over a period of 15 years. His work for United Air Lines took them to Portland, San Francisco, Chicago, Detroit and Denver. He was able to take advantage of work opportunities because she was willing to sell their house and move to a new city. Wherever her husband's work took them, she sought out other church members and faithfully served them.

Layton, Utah always remained her home, and when her husband retired, she looked forward to returning to the place she loved best. However her long awaited return to Layton was delayed when she served as companion to her husband who was called as President of the Australia Brisbane Mission (1974-1977).

She held many LDS church positions in her life, frequently serving as secretary in church auxiliaries. She also served as Relief Society president twice. Genealogy and family history was her passion. Her excellent research and record keeping will bless many generations.

She loved and missed her husband very much and looked forward to the day when they would be together again.

She is survived by two sons, Robert F. (Flora Lee) Wall Jr., David R. (Ann) Wall, two daughters, Lorchin (Anthony) Arnone, Lisa (Jim) McBride, 24 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, four sisters, Dorothy Adams, Gloria Rice, Bonnie Jackson and Connie Layton. Preceded in death by her husband, one great-granddaughter, Ann Marie, brother, Bryan Harris and sister, Ruth Adams.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Kayscreek Stake Center, 2680 E. Cherry Lane, Layton. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery on January 3, 2004 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers family suggests donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
