He was born to Anton and Pauline (Fuelberth) Nissen in Page, NE. Dale was the youngest of 8 children, was active in sports and graduated from Page High School. He loved telling stories, enjoyed horse racing, Keno and was an avid crossword puzzler. Retired from the Nebraska Department of Highway Safety. He served in the US Air Force, stationed in Roswell, NM. He was an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy. Survived by his children, Gary Nissen, Sr. (Mycki), South Sioux City, NE, Dr. Marde Badie, Omaha, Joseph Nissen, Sr. (Lora), Michael Nissen, all of Memphis, NE, Helen Leach (John), Liz Schneider (Dave), all of Lincoln; sisters, Mabel Eby, O'Neill, June Webb, Mitchell, NE; brothers, Don Nissen (Doris), Norfolk, Lorenz Nissen (Catherine), Wilmington, NC; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Margaret; and infant son Bartholemew.
MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL 10am Thursday, January 6, at Cathedral of the Risen Christ, with Fr. Steven W. Thomlison celebrating. Inurnment will take place at a later time in Calvary Cemetery. VISITATION 12noon-9pm Wednesday, January 5, Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln. A Rosary will be said at 7pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post #93, O'Neill, NE.
