Miss Florence E. Blaylock, one of Stewartsville's best known and most popular young ladies, died Thursday evening after a nine weeks illness from cancer of the bowels. She had been a long and patient sufferer and bore her affliction without a murmur, retaining a bright hope for recovery until the last and discussing her plans for the future. The ending of this bright and promising young life cast a gloom over the town and surrounding community where she was so well known and loved by all. She was prominent in young people's affairs and her place will be sadly missed. She was born July 28, 1887, died April 27, 1911 -- aged 23 years, 8 months and 29 days. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Alvin P. Blaylock, well known citizens of that town, and for many years had been a clerk in the stores of that place, where by her sweet disposition and obliging manner she won and held the highest esteem of all and her untimely death is greatly mourned by all. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, Rev. W.P. Wallace officiating, delivering a touching eulogy to the noble young life.
