Poseyville News March 28, 1924:
Stewartsville Citizen Dies Suddenly Saturday Evening.
Alvin Patterson Blaylock son of Aquilia and Elizabeth Blaylock was born in Mt Vernon, Ind., April 22, 1862 and died March 15, 1924, age 62 yrs. 10 mo. and 15 days. Mr. Blaylock had been in poor health for some time, but the sudden demise was a great shock to his family. He had been in the employment of the Illinois Central railroad for years. He was married to Elizabeth Gardner March 24, 1883, to this union was born eight children, four having preceded him to the great beyond also a brother George. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, two daughters, Anna and Mrs. D.H. Morrow of Detroit Mich, two sons Louis and Fred, also eight grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his departure. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the home followed by service at the Methodist church. Rev. B.B. Shake Methodist minister of New Harmony delivered the funeral sermon, the body was laid to rest in the Stewartsville cemetery.
