Roy L. Sluder, 86, of 16th Street died at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Sluder was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Cosco and was a member of Central Heights Church of God, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Moose Lodge.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street, with the Rev. Mark A. West officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery, with a graveside service conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Mr. Sluder was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Campbellsville, Ky., the son of Roby C. and Cora L. Osborne Sluder. He married Hattie E. Hughes on Dec. 29, 1940. She died Jan. 7, 1981.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Sluder of Columbus; daughters, Louise Robles of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Wanda Way of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Iva Littrell of Columbus; eight grandchildren and several great–grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughters, Sylvetta M. and Frances Sluder; brothers, Dewey, William, Leonard and Avery Sluder; and sisters, Pearl Sluder, Lula Meranda and Delra Mings.
