Gerald Wilborn "G.W." Gorman, 89, of Midlothian was born March 18, 1921 to Arthur William Gorman and Texas Penina Owen in Bardwell, Texas. He passed from this earthly life on Saturday. April 10, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Texas Gorman; three of his brothers Elliott, Raymond and Glynn; and his only sister Lucille McKeever; and by his wives Margaret Wheeler Gorman and Ila Faye Reeves Foster Gorman.

G.W. Gorman put his faith in the saving grace of Jesus at an early age and was baptized by the Baptist Church in Avalon. As a farm boy, he was given the responsibility of a plow and two mules by age 8. He loved the land and his cows all his life.

He graduated from Avalon High School in 1938 and attended John Tarleton Agricultural College in Stephenville before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. He briefly attended flight school and then entered the Signal Corps. He was honorably discharged from the Army as a Private in 1945.

He married Margaret Wheeler of Dallas, daughter of Harley Trask Wheeler and Elizabeth Hooks, on April 15, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He and Margaret began Gorman Co., Inc. (1963 to present).

He served as an active Mason for 65 years, as a member of Lodge #1380 in Cedar Hill, #584 in Midlothian, #499 Chambers Creek in Ennis, and #851 Knox-Corinthian in Dallas.

After Margaret passed away in 1993, he met and married a lovely lady from Cedar Hill, Ila Faye.

G.W. and Ila Faye spent nearly 16 years traveling to all 50 states, living life to the fullest, and serving their church and community.

G.W. loved serving as a deacon and trustee at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill.

He was overjoyed to become a 33° Scottish Rite Mason. He loved serving children as a long time volunteer at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

He is survived by son, Hal Wheeler Gorman and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Nash Gorman of Midlothian; granddaughter, Josephine Evelyn Gorman of Midlothian; brother, Arthur Carol "Buddy" Gorman of Bardwell; sister-in-law Grace Lucille Gorman of Bardwell; step-children: Linda and Ron Hopton-Jones, Roger and LaDell Foster, Tim Foster, Judy and Steve Killough, Cindy and Johnny Duffey,Tracy and Vernon Clapp; and a host of extended family and friends.

Memorial services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., April 15, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Church of Cedar Hill with Mike Simmons, Senior pastor, officiating.

Funeral under the direction of Jaynes Funeral Chapel, Duncanville, Texas.
