He next attended John Tarleton State (Jr.) College in Stephenville and then trained as an aircraft engine mechanic, obtaining a civilian job in that capacity with the US Army Air Corps in Brady, Texas. At the outbreak of WW II, his job was classified as critical and he was given a deferment from the draft. He spent the entire war as a civilian employee of the Air Corps in Brady, Texas and did not have to go overseas.
He met Lucille Turner of Brady in 1943 and they were married August 9, 1944. Their first child, a daughter Glynda, was born in Brady in 1948. In 1949, Glynn took an airplane engine mechanics job at Love Field in Dallas with the newly expanded Pioneer Airlines. To be near his work, he moved his family to Cedar Hill near Dallas where they lived on his brother Gerald’s farm. Their second child, a son Kenneth, was born in Dallas in 1950. After a couple of years at Love Field, Glynn was re-assigned to the Pioneer maintenance facility in Midland, Texas. In 1955 Pioneer merged with Continental Airlines and Glynn spent the rest of his career working for Continental.
Glynn bought a farm south of Waxahachie at the Cartwright Corner in the middle 1960's and was able to get his work site transferred from Midland back to Dallas Love Field and then to DFW airport. They built a new brick home on their Cartwright farm about 1968. He retired from Continental about 1985 and, with the help of his son Kenneth, he continued to run his farm until his unexpected death from pneumonia on 11 November 2006.
