Mary Cordelia Haskins, a daughter of Louisa (née McFarland) and Philip Haskins, was born in Bainbridge Township, Geauga County, Ohio. The Haskins and McFarland families had settled in the township together in 1818.

Mary C. Haskins and Charles W. Burgess were married on 30 June 1851 in Bainbridge Township, and settled in the county's Montville Township. The couple had two children: Burritt Watson and Allena Lorica.

Notes

"The family of Phillip Haskins consisted of his wife [Louisa] and three children: Henry, Albert and Tryphosa. After the settlement here [Bainbridge Township] three more were born, viz: Hiram, Perry and Mary. [...] Mary married Charles Burgess and removed to Montville, where they still remain. The have two children." (Pioneer and General History of Geauga County (Historical Society of Geauga County, Ohio, 1880), p. 142.)
