Adina Hart Wixom Barton, 103, passed away December 23, 2010 at her home in Salt Lake City with family and friends close by. A very special mother now joins her eternal companion who died over fifty years ago.

She was born September 13, 1907 in Farmington, Utah, the first daughter of Arthur W. and Evadyna Henderson Hart.

While attending Utah State University, she met Carnell Wixom. They were married on September 16, 1931 in the Logan Temple. He died in 1954. Adina was later married to James Needham and Roy Lloyd, both of whom preceded her in death. In 2005, at the age of ninety-eight, she married George Barton, who survives her.

She was active in the LDS Church all her life, serving as teacher or leader in every organization possible. She also served as a temple worker for three years. As a widow, she supported her two sons on missions.

For several years, she modeled for Salt Lake City department stores and was always an example of grace and modesty. With her husband Carnell, they established the Wixom Piano Co. which she continued for several years following his death.

In her advanced years, she wrote a book, "A Touch of Class," and taught self improvement classes called "A New You," to young people in Salt Lake City schools. She loved dancing and reading, both of which she enjoyed late into her life.

In both Logan, Utah and Preston, Idaho, she taught dancing. She and Carnell were dance instructors and participated in ballroom exhibition dancing in many LDS wards. She also had the opportunity to travel extensively for many years.

She made friends wherever she went, always giving them a reason to smile. Her example of courage and positive attitude are a legacy that will be remembered by all who were a part of her life.

Her only daughter, Shari (Mel Morrow) preceded her in death (1985), as well as three grandsons, John Morrow, David Morrow, and Caleb Wixom. She is survived by her sons Hartt (Judene), Ivins, Utah and Douglas (Charmagne), Provo, Utah, two brothers, Jed Hart, Bret Hart, and five sisters: Rhea Grandy, Arlette Day, Elna Palmer, Ada Kay Shumway, and Jocelyn Faux. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she was dedicated to staying connected with.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Winder Ninth Ward Chapel, 1500 East 4789 South, Holladay, with a viewing one hour prior. Family may also be greeted the evening before at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East College Street (4580 South).
