Fort Bend Herald, Tuesday, November 20, 2007:

Vernell Meyer Aiken, 67, of Sugar Land, passed away at her home early Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007. Vernell was born September 9, 1940 to Homer and Cora Behrens Meyer.

Vernell lived most of her life in Beasley. She was a graduate of Orchard High School, Texas Women's University, and the University of Houston. She was a geriatric social worker.

Her parents and brother, John Edward Meyer, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Mikeska Brown, Jada Mikeska, Kristi Lowell Briggs, and Brittany Aiken Addison; grandchildren, John Sarah, Corey, Zach, Bradley, and James; and great-granddaughter, Kendall; as well as other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service is at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at New Hope Lutheran Church, 1424 FM 1092 in Missouri City. The church will host a reception following the service.

For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Sheltering Arms Senior Services, 3838 Aberdeen Way, Houston, Texas 77025, www.shelteringarms.org; or New Hope Lutheran Church in Missouri City, www.newhopelc.org.

Funeral services are under the direction of Beresford Funeral Services in Houston.
