Fort Bend Herald, September 7, 2021:

Wilbur Louis Mikeska of Rosenberg, Texas passed away on June 17, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on August 2, 1938 in Orchard, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August & Erna Mikeska, of Orchard, Texas and his older brother, Melvin Jerry Mikeska, of Rosenberg, and his sister in-law, Delores Jean Mikeska, both of Rosenberg; and his best friend and companion, Boudreaux, his Old English Sheep Dog.

He is survived by his brother, Gerald Mikeska, and his wife, Terri Mikeska, of Orchard; a son, Michael J. Shay (formerly known as Jada D. Mikeska) of Stafford; and a daughter, Deborah L. Mikeska Brown of Sugar Land. He has many nephews, nieces, family, and friends who also mourn his passing.

Wilbur was a 1956 graduate of Orchard High School where he played baseball and football. He was a farmer and a steel worker at Gulf States Tube in Rosenberg. Later in his life, he sold trucks for Russell Smith Ford in Houston and then worked for Myska Real Estate in Rosenberg. Most recently, he bought and sold pecans at Bagley's Pecan Barn in Simonton.

Wilbur enjoyed watching football and baseball. He loved gardening and giving his vegetables and fruits to others. It was difficult for him to give up gardening when he could not do it physically any longer. He liked going for rides to look at cotton and milo crops, often stopping for an ice cream cone or a barbeque sandwich. He enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends at the pecan barn. Wilbur was a character who liked to talk to people and tease them.

His memorial service will be private.
