Irene Ferrell Browning, 86, of Gallipolis, and formerly of the Vinton Community, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Scenic Hills Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Boone County, W.Va., daughter of the late Jess Homer Ferrell and Myrtle Vickers Ferrell.
Irene married Woodrow Browning on May 13, 1938 at Van, W.Va., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1981.
She is survived by three sons, Woody (June) Browning, Larry (Betty) Browning, Danny (Sharon) Browning; four daughters, Jackie (Tom) Crawford, Linda Denney, Bidwell, Connie (Jerry) Barnes, Kathy (Rick) Carpenter; son-in-law, Charles Pierpoint; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mathel Ferrell; three half-sisters, Pat Ulbrich, Brenda Green, and June Ferrell; and one half-brother, Frankie Ferrell.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Irene was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Pierpoint; a brother Denny Ferrell and half-brother Bobby Ferrell; and three sisters, Vina Hoover, Charlotte Ferrell and Mary Epling.
Funeral services at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, with Pastor Bob Powell officiating.
