Bobby Joe Ferrell, 70, of Madison died Nov. 11, 2003, in CAMC General Hospital, Charleston.
He was born Feb. 1, 1933, a son of the late Jessie and Gladys Brown Ferrell. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Dennie Ferrell; and one sister, Vina Hoover.
He was a lifelong resident of Boone County, a retired coal miner from Y&O Coal, Armco Steel and Peabody Coal Company with 39 years of service and was a member of the UMWA. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a Christian and attended Gospel Center Tabernacle, Madison.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tressa; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy Joe and Kimberly Dawn Ferrell; one granddaughter, Stephanie Joe Ferrell; one brother, Franklin of Cleveland, Ohio; five sisters, Patsy Ulbrich, June Ferrell, Mary Epling, and Brenda Green, all of Parma, Ohio, Irene Browning of Vinton, Ohio; and a host of family and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Clyde Lee and Pastor Walter Gore officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison, with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone Post 5578, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
