Margaret Lucille "Lucy" Childs, 91, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the Starkville Manor Nursing Home in Starkville. She was born in Chickasaw County. She was the secretaryto the superintendent of education and bank teller for Union Planters Bank in Memphis, Tennessee for 34 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Houston.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Al Gaspard and Bro. Bennett Blanton officiating. Burial was the Houston Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Petty W. Childs of Houston; two sisters, Kate A. Word of Snow Lake and Elizabeth A. May of Memphis, Tenn;and one brother, Robert Austin of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh S. Austin and Adding B. Boring Austin; five brothers, Olen L. Austin, Sherman Austin, James Austin, William Austin and Thomas Austin;two sisters, Mary Triplett and Lena A. Amour.

Pallbearers were Forrest S. May, Jr.,Larry May, Randy May, Ken May, Marty May, and Timothy.
