Funeral services will be held Friday, March 17, 2006 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Elida Savoie, age 93, the former Elida Roger, who passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Charles Mallet, will officiate at the services. Lectors will be Crystal Domingue and Ashlyn Roger. Musical selections will be provided by Tony Broussard. The songs will be On Eagle's Wings, Hail Mary Gentle Woman, How Great Thou Art, and Amazing Grace. Ms. Savoie was a native and lifelong resident of Vatican, LA. She was a parishioner of St. John Berchman Catholic Church in Cankton. She had been a member of the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society and the Ladies Altar Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Annette Greene of Lafayette; a son-in-law, Robert Capdepon; eight grandchildren, three of whom she raised, Glenda Menard and her husband, Fred, and Randy Capdepon and his wife, Michele, all of Carencro and Scott Capdepon and his wife, Lydia, of Breaux Bridge, Roanne Langlinais and her husband, Eric of Lafayette, Sherrie Breaux and her husband, Keith, of Broussard, LA, Jeanette Hopkins and her husband, Joe, of Daytona Beach, FL, Candy Dugas of Lafayette and Crystal Domingue and her husband, Scott, of Lafayette; twenty-two grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; one brother, Edras Prejean of Carencro and two sisters, Rita Breaux and Betty Cormier both of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Placide Smith; her second husband, Delpha Savoie; a daughter, Jeanette Capdepon; her parents, Aldus Roger and the former Alice Cormier, both natives of Lafayette; her step-father, Camille Prejean; and two brothers, Ulysses "Jimmy" Roger and Aldus "Dud" Prejean.
Pallbearers will be Randy Capdepon, Scott Capdepon, Colby Menard, Justin Capdepon, Toby Roger, Eric Langlinais, Keith Breaux and Scott Domingue. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Capdepon, Fred Menard and Joseph Hopkins.
