CARENCRO ~ Funeral services will be held Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Betty Lou Cormier, age 83, the former Betty Lou Prejean, who passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 3:57 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Cormier was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She was employed and retired as a bus attendant for the Lafayette Parish School Board after fifteen years of service. Mrs. Cormier worked at the North Admission Gate at the Old Evangeline Downs for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Roger and his wife, Paulette, of Guanajuato City, Guanajuato Mexico, Jerry Roger and Ricky Cormier both of Carencro; one daughter, Jennifer Bergeron of Duson; ; two step sons, Charles Red Cormier and his wife, Lynette, and Sidney Cormier and his wife, Debbie, all of Carencro; three grandchildren, Hunter Paul Comeaux and his wife, Jaime, Brittany Nicole Cormier and Brock Joseph Cormier; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Rita P. Breaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysse Cormier; her parents, Camille Prejean and the former, Alice Cormier, both natives of Carencro; three brothers, Ulysse Roger, Edras Prejean and Aldus Dud Prejean; and one sister, Elida "Toot" R. Smith.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
