Son of Charles and Clara Adams Moyer, he married Elma Whaley, lived at RD 2 Polk, died there of cancer of right mandible with metastasis of 17 months, per death certificate 032687-65, whose informant was his wife, and which gives his birth date as Jan 20 1911. Buried Mar 17 1965.


His WWII Draft Card gives his birth date as Jan 20 1911, son of Charley Oscar Moyer.


Per birth certificate 3343, Harry Richard Moyer was born Jan 20 1911 in Sugarcreek Township, RD 1 Franklin, to Charles Moyer of Sugarcreek Twp, 24, born in Victory Township, a painter, and Clara Adams Moyer of Sugarcreek Twp, 20, born in Polk, their first child.

Harry R. Moyer, 54, of Polk RD 2, died at his home at 8:30 pm Sunday following a lingering illness. He was born in Victory Township Jan. 20, 1911, son of Charles O. and Clara Adams Moyer.


He raised gladioli and other flowers at his home in Springville and was particularly known as a gladioli breeder, having developed several new varieties. For a time he operated a dairy store on N. 13th St. in the Third Ward. He attended Franklin High School, and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Franklin Aerie of Eagles.


On Dec. 28, 1940 in Covington, KY, he married Elma Whaley of Oil City, and she survives, with a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Lois) Bowman of Lakewood, OH.


Services will be at 2 ppm Wednesday at Burger Funeral Home with Rev. V. E. Maybray, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, Oil City.

Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Elma Whaley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Whaley of E. 3rd St., to Harry Moyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Moyer, RD 2 Polk, at Covington, KY, Saturday, Dec. 28, with Rev. E. M. Rose officiating. The bride works for Keystone Public Service and her husband for the Willys Sales and Service Company.
