Jacob Bushong was a farmer and was owner of a grist mill.  He lived in a community called Bushong. This later become known as Mt. Gilead. He was married to Mary (Molly) Headrick. She was a daughter of Jesse Headrick. They had Dr. George W. Bushong, William "Dink" Bushong, Ella, and Nancy. Ella married Jarrett Dickerson and Nancy married Dr. Frank Marrs. Nancy died rather young.
