He was son of Jacob Bushong and Mary Headrick Bushong and husband of Hetty Susan Brown Bushong. Their children: Mossy Ree, Willie Herbert, Mary T., George P., Minta G., Jack Brown, and Edwin Morrow. He was sheriff, grist mill operator, farmer, etc. He believed in the Christian Church at Mount Gilead. His grist mill was located on the waters of East Fork Creek at Mount Gilead or at one time was called Bushong. He reared his family there. One of his daughters, Mossie Ree taught school at Mount Gilead. It is also near the home of Dink's mother Mollly Headrick Bushong.
