Shirley Sue Coakley, 71, of Pascagoula, MS passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2010 surrounded by friends and family. Shirley was born February 22, 1939 in Prentiss, MS to the late Bonnie and Shelby Brister.
A member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, she was a beautiful woman with a big heart and an infectious laugh. She was very successful in the real estate profession with John Jones & Associates, and active in the Krewe of Tri-Cities.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Charles Coakley, her children, Connie Chastain (Bo) of Whitfield, MS; Robert Coakley (Joann) of Knoxville, TN; Chris Coakley (Amy) of Pascagoula, MS; six grandchildren, Charlie and Anna Claire Chastain, Mary Grace and CeCe Coakley, Katie and Lauren Coakley. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Farragut (Ken); brothers, Eddie Brister (Sylvia), Jack Brister, Bill Brister, brother-in-law, Jack Godfrey. In addition she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and many great friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Grace Godfrey; sisters-in-law, Patsy Brister and Vendi Brister; brother-in-law, Bill Coakley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula, MS. Friends and family may visit from 12:00 until 2:00. Burial will follow in Machpelah Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, John Jones, Mike Wixon, Michael Brand, Lewis Smith, Mac McGuire. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Sutherland, Roger Stovall, John Lyles, Kimy Canarela and Donald Olsen.
