Mr. Phillip Newton "Pete" Veal of 3075 Wheeler Road, entered into rest at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 1960, when his boat overturned as he was fishing. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Elliott Sons Chapel with the Reverend Father Louis Poche, S.J., officiating. Interment will be in West View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sgt. Carroll Marshburn, C.W. Anderson, Richard A. Burch, W.C. Hancock, W.C. Gardner Jr., Oliver E. Kitchens and O.C. Thigpen. Mr. Veal was born in Richmond County and had live in Augusta most of his life. He was a retired optometrist. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. G.B. Ballentine of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Wesley Ballentine of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Joe Strother of Augusta, and Mrs. Jack Dunnaway of Watertown, N.Y. Elliott Sons.
