Mrs. William Wallace (Verna Presnall) Smith, 98, of Waco died Thursday in Wills Point.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at China Spring Cemetery, chaplain L.B. Hinz officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 8, 1887 on the Conger Ranch near China Spring. She was the daughter of Tom and Dieppe Presnall and granddaughter of Encoh Fetzer.
She grew up in Gholson and China Spring, but lived in Waco after her marriage. She attended Baylor University from 1905-1906 and taught school at China Spring. She received a Diamond Certificate from the Baylor Heritage Society in 1982.
Mrs. Smith was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was active in Women's Missionary Auxiliary work.
Survivors include a son, Wallace Thomas Smith of Waco; three daughters, Alene Brooks of Houston, Nell Diaz of Fort Worth, and Verna D. Burnett of Athens; two sisters, Edna Lane of Ft. Worth and Ruby Higginbotham of Houston; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
