--COLUMBIA - Mr. Francis Ruben Chisholm, 82, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Rock Hill, was welcomed into eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.
--The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at New Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church in Rock Hill. Officiating will be the Rev. Alvin W. McLamb and the Rev. J.R. Williams. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.
--Born in Rock Hill on May 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Rev. Samuel Ruben Chisholm and the late Frances Cornelia Lowery Chisholm. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. Mr. Chisholm was a retired educator and guidance counselor with the Rock Hill School District Number Three. He was a member of New Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church of Rock Hill, and the Jones Memorial AME Zion Church of Columbia.
--He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty J. Hutchison Chisholm; one son, Mr. Alfred (Blanche) Ruben Chisholm; one sister, Mrs. Thelma C. (JulianSr.) Dugas of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren; five neices; seven nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
--In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church Building Fund, 527 S. Dave Lyle Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or Amedisys Hospice of SC, 305 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
