A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph and Jessie Martin Presley Worsham.
She worked as an inspector in textiles during the 1930s and did carpentry work and helped with the manufacturing of connecting rods during World War II. She was a bookkeeper for A. M. Boggs and helped manage the family store. She taught tole painting, sold at crafts shows, wrote poetry and was an oil and acrylics artist. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher. She was a charter member of the Hendersonville Crafters and a former member of the Smokey Mountain Tolers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Murrell Edward Howard; a brother, the Rev. Cecil Worsham; and two sisters, Lila Wilkie and Helen Garren. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Linda Howard of Lawndale; two daughters and sons in law, Janet and Flay Cooke of Lawndale and Phylls and Dan McIntyre of Tifton, GA; a brother, Boyd Worsham of Greenville, SC a sister, Mildred Connor Fletcher; a special sister-in-law and caregiver, Sally Lou Worsham Faulk of Goose Creek, SC five grandchildren, Crystal Keller of Lawndale, Kelly Cooke of Gastonia, Stacy Cooke of Casar and Katie McIntyre and Dan McIntyre, both of Tifton; and a great-grandchild, Cyndal Keller.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Russell Fitts and Paul Chandler officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
