James Arthur Swango was born March 9, 1875, at Boggstown, Ind. He passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital, in Geneva, January 3, 1963 at the age of 87 years.

He was united in marriage with Daisey Layman March 15, 1895, in Indiana. She preceded him in death in 1941.

In 1944 Mr. Swango came to Fairmont, where he united in marriage to Alice Lucas. He spent the remainder of his life in Fairmont.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Cowins of Fairmont, Mrs. Cora Walton of Shelbyville, Ind., and Mrs. Pearl Duckworth of Franklin, Ind.; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Federated Church.

Funeral services were held at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Fairmont at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 5, with Rev. Robert Barger officiating. Pallbearers were Emmett Duckworth, Arthur Cowins Jr., Willard Goodrich, Bert Kness, Harry Carson and Lloyd Broman. Interment was in the Grafton Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Duckworth of Franklin, Ind., Mrs. Cora Walton of Shelbyville, Ind., Raymond Jackson of St. Paul, Ind.; a friend brought them by car.
