She was born February 23, 1930 in Provo, UT, to Elton Andrew and Bernice (Daybell) Hartley, and grew up in Salt Lake City. She married Herschel Eugene Mason, Jr. on November 23, 1948 and spent many years in California where she raised her family. She moved back to Utah for a time before relocating to Spokane 10 years ago.
Mrs. Mason was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed quilting and collecting stamps. She was a very caring, loving and giving person who will be missed by many.
She is survived by her four daughters, Linda Jeanne Mason, of Sonoma, CA; Kathleen Mason Leake, of Sebastopol, CA; Anita L. Pederson and Debra L. Mason-Batt-Saylor, both of Spokane, WA; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nadine Madsen, of Nevada, and Lola Barrett, of Murray, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Eugene Mason, Jr. in 1961, as well as a brother, Elton Ralph Hartley, and a grandson, Jonathan Saylor.
Burial arrangements with her husband in Santa Rosa, CA are pending. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Final details entrusted to Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.
