MRS. CLARK BURT TAKEN BY DEATH ON LAST FRIDAY
Pioneer of the Community Dies in Son's Home Following Long Illness.
A pioneer home maker and farm women of the community went to her last rest on Friday of last week when Mrs. Clark Burt 77 years old passed away following several months of frail health. Mrs. Burt was tenderly cared for in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Burt of Center Street and her death occured quietly there at 1:45 in the afternoon.
In the death of Mrs. Burt her home community just east of Alma, loses an unusual and fine women. For fifty years she and her husband lived on the home farm, and during her life in the community none but good was ever known of her. Quiet, but efficient, she went her busy way, a dainty little women who was devoted to her husband and children to an unusual degree. Though she seldom mingled with the neighbors in a social way she was widely known for her kindness and sterling character.
Samantha Badgley was born on September 6th, 1852, at Clayton, Onaway county, Michigan. She became the wife of Clark Burt in 1872, and he preceeded her in death in January, 1925. The couple moved to the present home and three children came to them, Frank of Shepherd, Fred of near the farm home, and Lee of this city. Since her husband's death Mrs. Burt has made her home with the children and at the old home. She was particularly fond of her grandchildren and usually had some of them with her. During the late winter she came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Burt and remained there until death claimed her.
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon at the son's home with Rev. Marshall Braund in charge. Burial was made at Riverside cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Burt are her three sons with their wives and families, one brother and many sincere friends.
