Cora Jones was the first daughter of David Franklin (Frank) Jones and Nancy Alice Jones, who had a total of 10 children, four girls and six boys. She was born in Dalton, GA and during her childhood the family moved to Starrsville (Newton County) GA. where Frank was a farmer.

On February 16, 1913 Cora married Cephas Venus Aaron and they moved to the Prospect community in Jasper County, GA. where Venus was a farmer. Cora and Venus wanted children but were unsuccessful until she was placed under the care of Dr. Francis S. Belcher, MD, of Monticello, GA. On May 18, 1927 her first son was born and named Francis Jones Aaron. His namesake was after Dr. Belcher and the Jones family.

On November 27, 1930, a second son, Robert Vernon Aaron was born. The family lived in Jasper County, GA, until 1947 when they moved to a farm in Newton County, near Mansfield, GA.

After Cora's first husband, Venus, died June 12, 1957, Cora married her second husband, Jim Harris on January 2, 1959 and moved to Covington, GA, where Mr. Harris had a home. When Jim Harris had to be admitted to a nursing home several years prior to his death on February 2, 1979, Cora lived with her children for several months before she decided to live at the Starcrest Nursing Home, Lithonia, GA, several years before her death on March 26, l980.

Cora was always a homemaker and the only time she worked outside the home was during World War II when she worked at a sewing plant in Mansfield, GA making shirts for army personnel. (Bio by Francis Aaron.)
