Mrs. Susan Ward, widow of William Ward, and a life long resident of Stockwell and vicinity, died Sunday night at the state Soldiers home where she had been a member since last fall when she suffered a stroke of paralysis. She was born January 26, 1852, a daughter of Hiram and Naomi Doolittle. Her husband a Civil War veteran, died 10 years ago. She was a member of the Stockwell M. E. Church. Two sons, John M, and Ray G. Ward, both of Rensselaer, survives, also six grandchildren. The remains were removed to the Soller Baker funeral home where friends may call after 6 o'clock Monday evening. The funeral will be conducted from the Stockwell M. W. church Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m., burial in the family lot in the Stockwell cemetery.( Lafayette. Journal & Courier, 1933.)
