John E. Hayes Sr.

Mr. John Edward Hayes, Sr., 68 [sic], of 45 Horseshoe Bend, Mobile Home Park Drive, Taylorsville, died Thursday night, Nov. 5, 1999, at home.

He was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Vilas in Watauga County, to the late Stewart Blaine and Esther Coffey Hayes. He was a retired dairyman from Ritchey Dairy Farm in Hickory and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shirley Woodring Hayes of Taylorsville; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Davis and Husband, Randy, of Hiddenite and Mrs. Stephanie Adams and husband, John, of Cleveland, Ga.; three sons, John Edward Hayes, Jr. and wife, Pam, of Jackson, Miss., Don Hayes and wife, Betty Sue, of La Belle, Fla. and Tim Hayes of Lenoir; five sisters, Mrs. Stella Hodges and Mrs. Vera Greer, both of Vilas; Mrs. Snow Townsend and Mrs. Gladys Teague, both of Boone and Mrs. Addie Lewis of North Wilksboro; five granddaughters, Mrs. Stacy Miller and husband, Roger, and Mrs. Shannon Boone and Husband, Kenneth, all of Statesville; Ashley Hayes of Jackson, Miss., Christy Davis and Melissa Davis, both of Hiddenite; four grandsons, Edward Scott Hayes of Statesville, Jason Hayes of Hiddenite, Allen Hayes, Jr. of Taylorsville and Makenzie Hayes of Lenoir; three great-grandsons, Justin Hayes, Andrew Miller and Charles Allen Hayes III, all of Statesville and three great-granddaughters, Tiffany Hayes and Angel Myers, both of Hiddenite and Shanna Hayes of Taylorsville. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Allen Hayes, Sr.; a grandson, Don Stewart Hayes, Jr.; three sisters, Mrs. William Hodges, Mrs. Doice Shores and Mrs. Lucy...[the obituary ends here; remainder not found]
