Mrs. Lewis was born January 9, 1930 in Watauga County to Stuart and Esther Coffey Hayes. She was a member of Hinshaw Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years; Carl Smith Lewis and a grandson; Cody Lewis.
She is survived by two daughters; Sheila Taylor and husband David of Laurel Springs and Alice Davis Wheaton and Daniel of Crumpler, two sons; Robert (Bob) Carl Lewis of Spartanburg, SC and James Allen Lewis and wife Teresa of Hays, four grandchildren; Sarah Lewis Ducker and husband Bradley, Michelle Reynolds and husband Greg Heather Horne and Parker Taylor and partner Natasha, four great grandchildren; Savannah Horne, Brianna Horne, Noah Lewis Taylor and Nicholas Anthony Taylor.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hinshaw Street Baptist Church, PO Box 396, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
