Pioneer Citizen Of County Dies

A resident of Yavapai county for 35 years, Mrs. Alice Hoffman, 77, died in the Humboldt home of her daughter, Mrs. Mollie Crane, Tuesday, and will be buried in Humboldt after 1:30 p.m. in private services, Friday in the Lester Ruffer Funeral Home.

Texas was the birthplace of Mrs. Hoffman, on January 14, 1857. She came to Arizona in 1890 to live for nine years in Phoenix, the rest of the time in this county. Her parents were Henry Cavness, A native of North Carolina, and Nancy Robins Cavness, who was born in Illinois.

Mrs. Hoffman, a widow, was granted a $20 monthly old age pension by the Yavapai county board of supervisors, effective July 1, 1933.

Besides Mrs. Crane, she is survived by a son, W. J. Hoffman, of Oakland, Calif.; another daughter, Mrs. Minnie Crosby of Bumble Bee; two brothers, Joe Cavness of Rico, Colo., and Matt Cavness of Farmington, N. Mex.; and a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Drew of Folsom, N. Mex.
