Born in Hyde County on May 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Seth B. Credle, Sr. and Claudia Jarvis Credle. He was a farmer and fisherman and was a member of the Rose Bay Missionary Baptist Church and Atlantic Lodge #245 AF & AM.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lemmie Dell Garrish Credle; a son, Seth B. "Pete" Credle, III of Swan Quarter; four daughters: Martha Credle Neal of Pantego, Marla Credle Gibbs of Engelhard, Sharon Credle Miller of Chapel Hill, and Beverly Credle Garrett of Greenville; three sisters: Helen Credle Mason of Washington, Blandina Credle Cahoon of Fairfield and Edith Credle Thompson of Swan Quarter; 9 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the gravesite in Soule Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Glover, Sam Eburn, Jr., Gary Smith and Steve Bryan will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service in Swan Quarter on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. (The Coastland Times - Thursday, May 27, 1999; pg. 10A)
