A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday March 9, at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington, conducted by Rev. John Yount. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers, Allen Thompson, Leon Mason, Pete Credle, Kenneth Cahoon, Lyle Cahoon and Dennis Thompson.
Mrs. Mason was born in Swan Quarter, on February 14, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Seth Bridgeman Credle and Claudia Jarvis Credle. Mrs. Mason moved to Washington in 1947. In December 2006, Mrs. Mason entered Countryside Nursing Home in Stokesdale. Mr. Mason began living with his son in Belews Creek to be near the nursing home. Mrs. Mason was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Circles and served as president of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Mason was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star. She held several Grand Lodge offices and was Worthy Grand Matron.
On July 7, 1940, she married Joseph Harvey Mason, who survives.
Surviving with her husband is her son, Joseph E. Mason of Belews Creek, N.C. and a sister, Blandina Cahoon of Engelhard.
In addition to her parents, a brother, Seth Bridgeman Credle, Jr. and a sister, Edith Credle Thompson, preceded Mrs. Mason in death.
