Thomas E. Ploughe, 99, former banker and minister, died at the Clinton County Hospital Wednesday, at 7:20 a.m., following an illness of several months duration.

The deceased was born in Tipton County, Feb. 16, 1863, the son of Preston Hopkins and Laurana (Lett) Ploughe.

He was married to Ida A. McKinney on Sept. 14, 1882. She preceded him in death in 1939.

Mr. Ploughe attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Louisville, Ky., and was ordained a minister in the Hills Baptist church where he later served as pastor.

He was also a cashier of the Scircleville bank for 41 years, and retired in 1942.

Survivors include a son, Preston A. Ploughe of Kirklin route 2, and three daughters. They are Mrs. Louie P. Donnell, route 3; Mrs. Flava P. Halberstadt, Decatur, and Mrs. Blanche P. Sims, Frankfort. Two daughters (Carrie and Mabel) preceded him in death, and two grandsons.

There are also surviving 21 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Hills Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Anderson will officiate.

Burial will be at the Hills church cemetery.
