WILLIAM H. BAKER, KANAWHA PIONEER DIED AT DAUGHTER'S HOME
Had been suffering with diabetes, but confined to bed only two days.
Kanawha -- William H. Baker, 81, one of the early Kanawha pioneers, passed away Thursday noon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Archie Ames. Mr. Baker suffered from diabetes, but had only been confined to his bed for about two weeks before which he was an active man for his age. Mr. Baker spent many years as a carrier on the rural mail routes out of Kanawha.
Six children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, besides a host of friends and other relatives, are left to mourn. The children are: Mrs. Archie Ames and Mrs. George McNeish of Kanawha; William F. Baker of Bruce, S.D.; George G. Baker of Nebraska City, Nebr.; Jesse E. Baker of Selah, Washington; and Mark L. Baker of Des Moines. Jesse was the only one of the children who was unable to be here for the funeral services which were conducted by the Rev. E. A. Briggs at the local Methodist church.
