KERRVILLE - Roy Franklin Neal passed away quietly Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at the age of 84.

He was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Kerrville to Henry Earl Neal and Helen Blanks Neal. He was married to Mable Ruth Kelley for 36 years.

In 1945, he graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in San Antonio, where he excelled in football and track. He joined the United States Navy and, after completing two years, he attended Samuel Huston College in Austin, where he majored in tailoring. He was a member of the Kerrville All Stars Baseball Team, where he was noted for his home run record. He was employed for 26 years at the Aspen Laundry and Dry Cleaning Company in Aspen, Colo. He returned to Kerrville in 1991 and later was employed at H-E-B as a bagger until his health began to fail.

He was an avid baseball and football fan and loved to watch both sports on television and did so until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

He is survived by his wife; one stepson, Bryan C. Douglass, of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Fannie Warren of Midland; three cousins, Florine Clay, Lawrence Norris and Dorothy Neal; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Noah Diggs officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
