"Merrill Francis "Boy Blue" Neal, age 71, was born on November 28,1921 in Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas. He was the son of Henry Earl Neal and Helen Blanks Neal, who preceded him in death. He was united in Baptist faith at an early age.
He attended Kerrville Public School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employes as a printer by the Kerrville Daily Times from 1949-1959. He retired from the Aspen Daily Times, Aspen, Colorado as shop foreman in 1980.
In 1941, he married Madge L. Fisher, who preceded him in death July 23,1978. There were no biological children born to this union. He lovingly raised his wife's daughter and son as his own.
He was devoted to his family until God called him home Wednesday, October 27, 1993 at 5:30a.m. in the Kerrville Veterans Administration Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Billie Hardee and son-in-law, Raymond Hardee; one son Robert Gaines and daughter-in-law, Eugenia Gaines; one brother, Roy Neal and sister-in-law, Mable Neal; four grandchildren, Julius Hardee, Todd Hardee, Lateesha Hardee and Charmaine Gaines, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends."
