Sioux Falls- Stanley L. Lenning, 80, died on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at Sanford USD Medical Center.
Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 AM on Thursday, at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with burial to follow at Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Wednesday at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Stanley Leroy Lenning was born on the family farm in Brookings County on August 16, 1929 to Fred and Mary (Casberg) Lenning. In 1951 Stan enlisted into the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1953. On June 5, 1954 Stan was united in marriage with Marlys Ekern in Hendricks, MN. The couple settled in Brookings for a few years and then Clear Lake, SD before making their home in Sioux Falls in 1960. Stan began working for Nash Finch Foods when they first moved to Sioux Falls, then began driving truck for Nordica Frozen Foods, a job which he did for a number of years before hauling mail for Dizco. Stan retired in 1998. Stan loved spending time with his family.
Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Lenning; four brothers, Morris, Arthur, Lloyd and Clifford Lenning; three sisters, Florence Hintz, Eunice Colberg and Palma Kreger; three infant sisters, Hazel, Hulda and Joyce.
