Hazel Hintz-Ching, age 93, of Watertown, SD, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Dennis Hansen officiating and Marcia Jelsma as organist.

Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown and prior to the service.

Family requests memorials be designated to PLH Hospice, P.O. Box 1210, Watertown, SD 57201.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Hazel's grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Paulsen, Darin Hintz, Douglas Hintz, Darwin Martinell, Rick Paulsen and Mike Hintz.

Hazel was born January 29, 1919 in Brookings, South Dakota to Fredrick and Marie (Casberg) Lenning. She attended school in Bruce. She married Vernon Klemm in 1939 who passed away in 1940. On September 20, 1941, she married Maurice Hintz at Hendricks, Minnesota. The couple farmed in the Brandt-Toronto, South Dakota area for 12 years and later farmed in the Castlewood area for 18 years before moving to Watertown. Hazel was employed at St. Ann's Hospital and Roosevelt School. Maurice passed away on March 2, 1989.
She later married Melvin "Dick" Ching on June 19, 1992. Dick passed away on March 3, 2011.
Hazel loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano and was an excellent seamstress and gardener.

Hazel is survived by her children, Dennis (Nancy) Hintz of Clear Lake, SD, Karen Paulsen of Watertown, SD, Donna Martinell of Sioux Falls, SD and Arlo (Vicki) Hintz of Aberdeen, SD; her sister, Joyce Svennes of Brookings, SD; sisters-in-law, Corlyis Lenning of Brookings and Marlys Lenning of Sioux Falls, SD; Brother-in-law, Robert Hintz of Brookings; 24 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; and 40 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; 3 sisters; 5 brothers; 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 1 great granddaughter.
