Betty R. (Avery) Deckard, 76, of Bloomington, died Monday at Bloomington
Hospital.

Born Sept. 21, 1925, in Lake City, Fla., she was the daughter of Thomas L. and
Nettie (Greene) Avery.

She was secretary at Public Service Indiana, where she retired.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Connie Parks of
Greene County and Michael and Pam Parks of Huntington, Texas; two stepdaughters
and their husbands, Suzanne and Phil Walls of Lafayette, La., and Marlene and
Brian Rice of Bloomington; two sisters, Mary NesSmith of Lake City, Fla., and
Zona Zschiedrich of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren,
10 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Deckard, in 2001;
and two brothers, John W. Avery and Roy L. Avery.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home. Burial will be at
Cloverhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
